This type
of trek requires regular sport or activity, previous walking
experience over all types of terrain. For those who feel poor on
previous experience, training prior to the trek is greatly
encouraged. Trails can often be hard to follow or even inexistent,
the party may have to move over unstable moraines, scree slopes,
snow, and bushes. Normally the treks include one or more high
passes where the weather can be very harsh. Good mountain clothing
is a must.
A special note on the Torre ice Hike hat we include in this
category because even though it is a single day activity, starting
and ending in El Chalten it is a very long 12 hour day.
Long walks from 6 to 10 hours
Use of porters or pack horses for the bulk of equipment,, Hikers
carry good size day packs.
In some stages of the program it is required to carry heavier
rucksacks, with personal items such as clothing sleeping bag, mat,
and other personal items.(additional porters may be hired)
Moderate to big elevation gain (400 a 1000 mts.)
Lodging in camps or in mountain huts (twin share accommodation).
And hotels at some stage.
Moderate physical demand.
Previous training advised.
