Combining comfort and camp activities like hiking, mountain biking or boating, this program allows you to discover the amazing landscapes of this region of Patagonia. In our exclusive private camping site (Fitz Roy Eco Adventure Camp), begins this experience through forests and lakes. We will explore the base camp of Mt Fitz Roy and several glaciers that rise at the foot of its walls. Sleeping in the base camp of Cerro Torre allows us to follow the Great Glacier and exercising basic ice climbing.

DIFFICULTY GRADE - MODERATE
Any person who has been walking in hills or mountains in the past will feel comfortable.  Also those who practice aerobic sports on a regular basis and are reasonably fit. This category includes long waling days and perhaps shorter but more demanding walks, such as a short ice-hike like the Viedma Ice Trek, or several day hikes linked with campsites, there is no technical difficulty but the camping and walking combined day after day make it a bit more demanding.
The trails are generally easy to follow, and well marked.

Long walk from 5 to 10 hours.
Use of porters or pack-horses from general equipment, food, etc..  hikers will have to carry  day packs only.
Moderate to big elevation gain (400 a 600 mts.)
Lodging in Hosterías /Hotels/lodges or  campsites.
Moderate physical demand.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival to El Chaltén
Meeting with mountain guide and briefi ng about following days. Half hour trip to the Fitz Roy Adventure Camp next to Rio de las Vueltas and Condor lagoon.

Day 2 | Fitz Roy Adventure Eco Camp
A menu of options to choose from. Time at leisure to relax.
- Mountain Bike (guided or independent biking): The road has little traffi c and it a good chance to go all the way to the beautifully set of Desert Lake.
- Hiking: There is a magnifi cent hike up the Loma Del Diablo, making it to the ridge or all the way to the summit (1800 mts), the climb to the summit can only be done if the guide decides to do it according to present conditions.
- Canoeing/Floating. River guides and the adequate equipment are available to explore a couple of kilometres of Rio de las Vueltas, and luckily do so with Mt. Fitz Roy in the skyline.

Day 3 | Fitz Roy Base Camp – Cerro Torre Base Camp
Full day hike following Rio Blanco towards Fitz Roy Base camp, optional side walk to Lake de los Tres (weather conditions and group performance). Then on to the next valley across Lakes Madre e Hija, to arrive at Cerro Torre Base Camp (Camp Thorwood).

Day 4 | Ice Trek on Grande Glacier
A short distance from base camp, there is a Tyrolean rope to cross the Fitz Roy River near Lake Torre. The trail follows the rim of a lateral moraine slowly approaching the ice. The day is spent exploring the Glacier, and practising an easy introductory ice-climb. Camp. Thorwood.

Day 5 | Return to El Chaltén
There are two options to go back to town. The easy trail down the valley that leads straight in town, or a much longer a hard walk across the Tyrolean of Rio Fitz Roy, and then climbing to the Agachonas Pass, leading down the Pliegue Tumbado and finally into El Chalten. This second option is an amazing walk but only for those willing to face a long walking day.
