A program designed as an easier and shorter option, for those who want to see and feel the Ice Field without camping on it. In four days you can walk around Mount Huemul, and through Paso del Viento “Windy Pass’, one of the historical ways into the Ice Cap. After the pass, the trek will continue following most of Glacier Viedma’s length.

Marconi Pass Expedition
(Door To Southern Patagonian Ice Field)

This trek will lead you to another of the usual passes commonly chosen to enter the Ice Cap. You will walk from the lush forests of the valley, past scree slopes, with the peaks of FitzRoy and other mountains always cutting the horizon, making it onto Marconi Glacier to finally reach the pass. When you make it to the pass the eerie atmosphere of the Ice Field will make the effort well worth reaching the pass.

For a longer expedition on the Southern Patagonia Ice-Cap this is the definite option. Many modern-day explorers still find it a challenge to undertake any kind of voyage in the Ice-Cap. We offer you the chance to follow the tracks of few others, or better still make your own, test your spirit during this expedition on the biggest mass of Ice outside Polar areas.
Retrace the steps of some history's best-know explorers like Sir Eric Shipton, Bill Tilman and others. Participants will learn the necessary skills to survive and travel in this type of terrain. Randonne-skis are used as means of transportation, sled-hauling, crevasse rescue and winter skills are needed to move safely and efficiently on the Ice-Field, usually most of these techniques are only needed during Polar Exploration, during this expedition we will practice and master them.
