The days horse ride will start from Estancia Puerto Consuelo which was the first estancia founded in the region by Captain Eberhard in 1893. After been introduced to our horses we will set off across the pampa in the direction towards the Milodon cave where we will have the chance to view the cave before enjoying a relaxing lunch. Alter which we will continue the ride through ancient lenga forests until we reach our destination Laguna Sofia. Throughout the ride we will have spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the Ultima Esperanza sound. Rich with outstanding beauty there is an abundance of differing types of flora and fauna for the wildlife enthusiast. Daily Programme: 10:00 Arrive at Estancia Puerto Consuelo. Meet the horses and set off on the ride towards the Milodon cave. Stop for lunch in the Caverna restaurant. Those who wish to view the cave may do so. 13:30 After lunch continue the ride to Laguna Sofia. Stop to appreciate the spectacular views of the Ultima Esperanza region. 16:30 Begin the homeward journey to the estancia. Wind our way through native forests and pass by the mythical rock aptly named the devils chair. 19:30 Arrive at the Caverna restaurant for dinner (traditional Patagonian barbecue). 21:00 Take transfer from the restaurant to your hotel. We will kayak through the beautiful Fjord Eberhard to the Estancia Puerto Consuelo - the first cattle ranch founded in the area. The afternoon will be spent on horse, travelling around the fjord to the peninsula and Villa Luisa where we will stop for lunch and to explore. The surrounding views on this trip are some of the most breathtaking in the region. We will ride through ancient Lenga woods and through mountain passes. On clear days we have the privileged viewing of the massif in the National Park Torres del Paine. Daily Programme 09:00 Transfer from Puerto Natales to Pueto Prat. 10:00 After instruction we wil Kayak from Puerto Prat to Estancia Puerto Consuelo 13:00 Lunch at the estancia situated by the fjord Eberhard. 14:00 After a leisurely lunch we will meet the horses and set off for a leisurely ride around the estancia. 17:00 Arrive back at the estancia and transfer to Puerto Natales. This eight day horse ride combines excellent riding opportunities on well schooled horses and comfortable accommodation full of history with the magnificent Torres del Paine National Park that offers open pampas, wooded valleys and breathtaking views of the towering mountains, the turquoise lakes and the rolling glaciers… Day 1 On arrival at Punta Arenas airport you will be met by your guide who will accompany you during the transfer to Puerto Bories and Bories House, situated on the banks of the Ultima Esperanza sound. In the afternoon you have the option to take a short ride or visit the local museum, "Frigorisfico Puerto Bories". Day 2 Early morning transfer to Estancia Puerto Consuelo. Today we set off across the pampa to the Milodon cave which Capt Eberhard discovered in 1895. The name “Milodon” was given after the remains of a giant sloth dating back 10,000 years ago where found there by Eberhard. We continue the ride to Laguna Sofia, through ancient Lenga forests and open valleys until we reach a Condor lookout point on the cliffs of Laguna Sofia. After lunch we take a transfer to our stay for the night at the travellers inn Tres Pasos which use to be frequented by the Noble prize poet Gabriela Mistral. Day 3 Today we set off from the travellers inn Tres Pasos and ride through beautiful countryside until we arrive at a small farming settlement Cerro Castillo. This ride will take us around lagoons, through woodland valleys and up to a lookout point to see the Torres del Paine National Park. Tonight we stay at Hotel El Pionero. This house use to be the home of an English gentleman Mr Saunders whom was one of the managers who worked for the company “Explotadora de Tierra del Fuego 1893 –1943”. Day 4 From the farming settlement Cerro Castillo we set off on a challenging days ride across the pampa to estancia Cerro Guido on the Eastern border of the Torres del Paine National Park. This is a long, but rewarding days ride. The evening is spent at Cerro Guido at this beautifully restored farm house with its privileged views of the Towers of Paine. Day 5 Today we have a wonderful ride to the outpost Las Chinas which is on the same estancia Cerro Guido. We will ride through mountain passes and along high ridges that will enable us to have spectacular views of the towers, Sarmiento lake and the impressive Baguales mountain range. The evening will be spent at this homely house Las Chinas in a remote and pristine corner of Patagonia. Day 6 One of the most beautiful rides of the trip today we head to Laguna Azul. With the towers of Paine as our constant back drop we ride through diverse terrain of pampa and woodland passes until we reach the Las Chinas waterfall where we will stop for lunch. By early afternoon we arrive at Laguna Azul where our transfer will pick us up and transfer us to the hotel/spa Las Torres. Las Torres, originally “Estancia Paine” was one of the first estancia in the area. Day 7 We shall take a wonderful walk up to the towers today. Three hours to reach the base and two & half down. There is the option to relax at the spa which offers therapeutic massages and a Jacuzzi or just relax and take a shorter walk around the area. The evening will be spent at Las Torres again. Day 8 Early morning transfer to Punta Arenas airport. PATAGONIA ESTANCIA RIDE - LOS PIONEROS

This twelve day trip starts in the historic town of Punta Arenas. The first evening we dine out and meet the rest of the group, the following day there is a morning tour of the city before setting off on our adventure. During this holiday we stay in and visit working estancias and converted houses that were lived in by the first pioneers. In most of the estancia we have the opportunity to meet the owners and talk to them about the area, farming in the region and their family history. Accompanied by a local baqueano we travel through pristine wilderness areas that eventually take us to the world renowned Torres del Paine National Park. Day 1 On arrival at Punta Arenas airport you will be met by your guide who will escort you and the rest of the group to your hotel, Rey Don Felipe, in the town centre. In the evening we will dine in a local restaurant and give you a brief on the ride. Day 2 We have a morning tour of the memorial museum which is dedicated to memorabilia of the first settlers cir 1856. We will then travel to our first estancia stay, Rio Penitente, which was founded by Scottish pioneers in 1891. After lunch we shall meet our horses which will take us on our journey through Patagonia. We give instruction at this point and assure that everyone is appropriately matched to their mount. The afternoon ride will be followed by a relaxed evening at the estancia with a traditional Patagonian barbecue. Day 3 Today we have a day of riding from estancia Rio Penitente, we will gallop across open “pampa”, wade through Penitente river, wind through woodlands and rest for lunch at an old “Puesto”. We return to the estancia for the evening. Day 4 We take an early transfer to the estancia Puerto Consuelo, (Comfort port) the first farm to be founded in the Ultima Esperanza Province. It was Captain Hermann Eberhard whom sailed in a dingy to this breathtakingly beautiful corner of Patagonia in 1893 and subsequently settled there. From the farm we shall take a wonderful ride to the park Villa Luisa which was where Eberhard built his splendid mansion. Unfortunately in the 70´s due to government unsettlement the family decided to demolish the house. Today the remains are a reminder of what great vision and achievement Eberhard had made during the early years of settlement. We shall stop for a barbecue lunch at the “quincho” that now stands there and relax and enjoy the scenery. For the evening we will be staying in the beautiful hamlet Puerto Bories on the shores of the Ultima Esperanza sound. We shall stay at the pleasant guesthouse, Bories House.
